On June 3, 2022, two juvenile western snowy plovers were released at Salinas Wildlife Refuge.

This was a truly joyful event and a testament to the collaborative effort between Point Blue Conservation Science , US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the SPCA Wildlife Rehab Center in Monterey County.

Found abandoned at a Moss Landing beach likely due to increasingly high tides, the eggs were rescued by a USFWS and a Point Blue biologist.

They were taken to SPCA of Monterey County, where they were cared for until they hatched and were ready for release.
